In complement to the exhibition Design Montreal RCA, the sixties and the seventies, the Musée des ondes Emile Berliner presents a series of 4 lectures on design related subjects, 4 Wednesdays in succession, from September 20 to October 11.
September 20, at 7 pm, Industrial Design in Canada, by Jean Bélisle (in French). M. Bélisle is co-founder of Musée des ondes Emile Berliner. Professor Emeritus from Concordia University, he was Full Professor from 1979 to 2013 at Concordia’s Department of Art History. He is Curator of the current exhibition.
September 27, at 7 pm, The Ongoing Quest for Sound Realism: Spatial Imaging from Mono to 3D by Matthew Boerum (in English). Matthew is the co-founder and CEO of Audible Reality, a leader in the development of 3D audio technology, and an award winning audio engineer, educator and musician. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Sound Recording at McGill University focusing on auditory perception for virtual and augmented reality.
October 4, at 7 pm, Canadian Fusion : Bauhaus in the Space Age by Anja Borck (in English). Anja is director of the Musée des ondes Emile Berliner since January 2017. She holds a PhD from Concordia University in Art History with a specialization in Industrial Heritage. She immigrated to Canada from Germany in 2001, where she worked as editor and journalist in culture-related fields.
October 11, at 7 pm, Industrial Design at RCA (in French). M. Morin is a Canadian designer whom, from the 60's to the 90's, created a range of ultra functional products with futuristic lines for companies such as MARCONI, RCA, IPL, GSW and many other Canadian companies and later for his own independent label from which he exported world wide.
These lectures and the current exhibition are the contribution of Musée des ondes Emile Berliner to the World Design Summit held in Montréal in October 2017. Entrance Fee 5$, Free for Musée des ondes Emile Berliner Members.
The exhibition « Design Montreal RCA, the sixties and the seventies » is open till March 18,
