The Mus\u00e9e des ondes Emile Berliner is honored to accept the 2020 Governor General’s History Award. The award recognizes individuals and organizations who deepen the understanding of the past by highlighting lesser-known stories, and encouraging meaningful public dialogue around history.<\/p>\n

The museum has received the award for the project of the\u00a0Centennial of Broadcasting in Canada<\/strong>. S<\/em>pecifically, the award recognizes the online presentation at\u00a0radio.moeb.ca<\/strong>\u00a0for the innovative, participatory and educational aspects of the project.<\/p>\n

The MOEB reacted to the constraints of the COVID-19 pandemic by quickly revising its schedule and offering an online adaptation for celebrating the centennial of broadcasting. The centennial activities will continue throughout 2021.<\/p>\n

The project was developed by the Mus\u00e9e des ondes Emile Berliner with the help of the Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 qu\u00e9b\u00e9coise de collectionneurs de radios anciens<\/strong> (SQCRA). Both organizations collaborated with a number of partners for this project such as the Polytechnique Montreal, L’\u00c9cole<\/em>\u00a0de technologie<\/em>\u00a0sup\u00e9rieure (ETS)<\/em>, Ultra Electronics, Carleton University, the Centre d\u2019Histoire de Montreal, the Marvin Duchow Music Library of McGill University, the Association qu\u00e9b\u00e9coise pour le patrimoine industriel (AQPI). The project benefitted from the financial support of the Government of Canada: Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage \u2013 Community Anniversaries, and from funds by the Trottier Family Foundation.<\/p>\n
