The Festival d’Histoire de Montréal – First Edition

Le Festival d’Histoire de Montréal - First Edition
The Musée des ondes Emile Berliner is proud to be taking part in the first edition of the Festival d’histoire de Montréal, a history festival organised by the Montreal History Museums from May 14 to May 16 2021.

Listening Session: The Montreal Music Industry of the 1940s and 1950s

As part of the Festival, the MOEB is presenting a virtual listening session that explores the artists that defined the French Canadian musical identity and the Montreal music industry of the 40s and 50s! The session is presented by Mariana Mejía Ahrens, in English with French captioning.

Mariana Mejía Ahrens has a BA in Audio Production from Webster University in St. Louis, MO, and is a recent graduate of the McGill Masters in Information Studies program. As an audio professional, Mariana has worked for Smithsonian Folkways Recordings, the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, Royal Caribbean Cruise Line, and the Sounds in the City research group. She became a volunteer at the Musée des ondes Emile Berliner in 2017 as part of the team creating the Online Berliner Archive. She worked as Project Coordinator for the Centennial of Broadcasting in Canada, a year-long program for which the museum received the 2020 Governor General’s History Award for Excellence in Community Programming. Mariana currently leads the research and planning of the museum’s upcoming temporary exhibition.
